Thrive with the brain that you have…

Dance with the Brain that You Have

An Introduction to Neurodiversity and Neuroinclusion for Dance and Movement Educators

6th of June at 10am-4pm
Bikes & Rails, Emilie-Flöge-Weg 4, 1100

We all have different brains. Some brains are more different than others, deviating from a "norm" of cognitive function to such an extent that we don't consider them "typical". Some of these variations are given diagnostic labels, such as ADHD, dyslexia, autism, etc. Sometimes, they emerge "subclinically". In any case, the incidence of neurodivergence in the population is high, with estimates ranging from 10-20%.

The aim of the workshop is for you to become aware of the gaps between your current pedagogy and a neuroinclusive pedagogy and to help you identify how you might adapt your pedagogy and the best practices for doing so.

“I have ADHD, and until recently, it was undiagnosed and its impact neglected. The support I get from Sebastian's coaching is invaluable. He brings a lot of understanding, curiosity, knowledge, openness, and flexibility.”

– Celina, Student at MedUni Wien

I offer Coaching, Training and Consultancy, focused on Neurodiversity and Neuroinclusion, for:

Adults and University Students

Neurodiversity is a life-long companion.

Are you at, or do you want to go to university? Are you looking for the right course, or have you already found it but feel overwhelmed?

You have a job, but want to do something to make it fit you better? You’re a freelancer or self-employed? You're unemployed and trying to find something that fits your cognitive profile?

Employers and Organisations

Are you an employer? Do you want to better understand the potential and challenges of neurodiversity in the workplace and help your neurodivergent employees thrive?

(Pro tip: It is estimated that between 10 and 20% of the total population is neurodiverse!)

“The world needs all kinds of minds. Neurodiversity is a gift, not a burden..”

— Temple Grandin

How I work:

Client Led

I work with you to identify your hopes, dreams and challenges as you perceive them. I will not tell you what your problems are and how to lead your life. Any commitments you make during the process are commitments you make to yourself, for yourself, not to me as a coach.

Neurodiversity Positive

I focus on neurodiversity as a gift. Whilst I take a realistic view of the burdens that come with being neurodiverse, I believe that with the right approach, the benefits can easily outweigh the costs.

Individualised

I do not, and will not ever, use an off-the-shelf, pre-packaged “method” for working with neurodivergent people. Working with people, in any setting, requires sensitivity, attunement and getting to know the individual.

Wait… Neuro-what?!

Neurodiversity refers to the idea that people's brains work in different ways. Some people's brains are wired differently, and these differences are a normal part of who we are.

Instead of thinking of these differences as problems or disorders, neurodiversity focuses on the strengths and talents that come with them.
